Based on the first-hand materials obtained from the field survey,this study examines the cultural ecology of the contemporary temple theatre in southern Fujian,including historical background,realistic environment,development status,viewing space,drama activities and cultural functions.Firstly,based on the relationship between temple theatre and folk belief,the temple theatre is summarized.Briefly discusses the history and current situation of the minnan folk beliefs,reveal the natural,cultural,political,economic and immigration on the role of folk religion,expounds the important influence of urbanization;This paper introduces the living condition of the local opera and the basic situation of the temple theatre.Secondly,the performance space and audience space of the temple theater were investigated,and the characteristics of its form scale and management and utilization mode were analyzed.The performance space section describes the diversity of the forms of the stage,and shows contemporary stage sets out of ancient architectural form,seeking economic and practical integration into the architectural features of the civil building.The audience space section firstly points out the particularity of the internal audience subject,and emphasizes that the characteristics,such as the folk nature and openness,are the distinctive differences between the temple theatre and the general theater.Finally,analyzes the cultural functions of the temple theater,which not only plays the functions of paying god,entertaining people,publicizing and educating people,but also becomes a commercial land,tourist project and advertising carrier,etc.,playing more important roles in the contemporary southern fujian society,thus exerting varying degrees of influence on opera art,industrial economy and cultural psychology.
