"Jiangnan" is a natural and humanistic landmark that combines geographical,cultural and historical significance,and has been the core element of Ge Fei’s novels since the new century.He not only focuses on the external form of the landscape,but also discusses the cultural values and humanistic thoughts behind it;he not only deals with the Jiangnan of the "past",but also puts the landscape expression into an ephemeral dimension,focusing on the present and looking into the future,revealing a growing "Jiangnan".This paper is divided into three parts: "The textual presentation of Ge Fei’s Jiangnan landscape since the new century," "The cultural reflection behind Ge Fei’s writing on the landscape of Jiangnan," and "Ge Fei’s conception of a new Jiangnan.The aim of the paper is to focus on Ge Fei’s writing on the Jiangnan landscape in his novels since the new century,and to explore Ge Fei’s thinking on local modernity in the new century,based on individual memories,homeland emotions and cultural imagination behind the landscape.The thesis first focuses on the changes in Ge Fei’s writing on Jiangnan landscapes since the new century.By sorting out the two types of Jiangnan landscapes in his novels,namely the bright and new and the depressed and decadent,the thesis identifies a significant stylistic dichotomy in Ge Fei’s shaping of landscapes since the new century.Starting from this issue,we discuss the cultural reflection on Jiangnan behind Ge Fei’s landscape writing in relation to the cultural value of the landscape.On the one hand,Ge Fei writes about the memory of the bright and decadent Jiangnan landscape from the perspective of observation outside and inside,showing his identification with and infinite nostalgia for the poetic cultural core of Jiangnan;on the other hand,Ge Fei observes the modern landscape of Jiangnan as a " returnee ",exploring the hidden relationship between landscape and power On the other hand,Ge Fei observes the modern landscape of Jiangnan as a" returnee ",and explores the loss of value of modern Jiangnan culture through the hidden relationship between landscape and power,thus raising the question of the times: " How can the story of Jiangnan be renewed? On this basis,the thesis explains the construction of his new view of Jiangnan in relation to Ge Fei’s phenomenon of "returning" to Jiangnan: that is,it emphasizes adhering to the poetic spirit,seeking spiritual motivation to relieve modern anxiety in retracing the cultural tradition of Jiangnan;paying attention to the other,and realizing the modern construction of Jiangnan in the dialogue with foreign thought and culture.It can be said that by returning to the core field of "Jiangnan",Ge Fei not only achieves the restoration of his individual spiritual world,but also explores the future of Jiangnan from a global perspective,discovers the nation from the place,and completes the discussion on the issue of local modernity,embodying a fundamental logic of going far abroad and going deep within. |
