Since the beginning of the 21^stcentury,numerous cognitive behavior studies have been conducted by experts in Western psychology,behavioral science,cognitive neuroscience and related fields.The selected text in this report provides a review of the research conducted by scholars in the Western cognitive field,offering a fresh perspective on how the brain operates.Additionally,the report proposes methods for utilizing extra-brain resources to alleviate anxiety and enhance cognitive function simultaneously.Currently,cognitive therapy is highly recommended for psychological relief in our country.As more individuals become interested in this field,it is crucial to translate relevant texts for wider accessibility.The first chapter of THE EXTENDED MIND:The Power of Thinking Outside the Brain is selected as translation material for this report.This report explores the guiding significance of Gideon Toury’s Translation Norms Theory in the translation of scientific texts by discussing the problems found in the translation process.In the process of translation,the author has observed that preliminary norms play a crucial role in determining which texts are chosen for translation,taking into account both cultural and temporal factors;initial norms impact the translator’s selection of appropriate expressions for the translation,and in order to achieve the goal of making the translation easier to be understood by readers,the translator pays attention to the acceptability of the target language and culture;operational norms play a direct role in the translation process,influencing the choice of words,the change of word order and the adjustment of the discourse.The operational norms are crucial for maintaining the overall integrity of the translation,both on a macro and micro level.On this basis,the author explores Toury’s Translation Norms Theory and summarizes translation techniques suitable for effective translation practice.These techniques include lexical conversion,sequence change,ellipsis and supplement,annotation and interpretation,passive and active.By providing solutions to similar translation problems,the author aims to improve future translation practices.
