Jeanette Winterson is a well-known female writer at home and abroad. There are many female voices in her works.Because of this, previous studies pay more attention to the female thought of her text, but lack of attention to men, especially the role of father. In her texts, the female scene is noisy, and the father is hidden from time to time. The tension between the two movements forms a unique phenomenon in Winterson ’s novels. The silent father in Winterson ’s works is not accidental, but the commoness. In this paper, the researcher based on the starting point, explore the profound meaning behind this phenomenon. This thesis takes " father absence " as the basis of research, combines writing strategies, life consciousness and existentialism thought, goes deep into Winterson ’s life and text world, and analyzes the behavior of father absence caused by social changes and the struggle behind men.In Winterson ’s works, the absence of father is the representation, and its appeal is the concern of the marginal aphasia group and the thinking of how life exists.Besides the introduction and conclusion,The thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter gives a general overview of the characterization of father absence in Winterson ’s text. Before the specific discussion, the researcher expounds Winterson ’s creative motivation and the characteristics of father absence text,so that readers can have a comprehensive understanding of this chapter. The absence of a father is either manifested in the disappearance of words,or in the narrator ’s memory,or replaced by a foster father. The second chapter mainly explores the writing strategies of Winterson ’s fatherless text.Taking the absence of father as the background, this paper discusses how Winterson writes painful growth to comfort the past with fictional non-fiction narrative strategy, highlights Winterson ’s concern for female aphasia group with female subjectification strategy, and adopts the deconstruction strategy of patriarchal culture to show the decline of paternal culture. The third chapter deeply analyzes the lack of father, reflecting Janet Winterson’s idea of life consciousness. On the basis of Yang Shousen ’s theory of life consciousness, this paper further explores the life view of Jeanette Winterson ’s text from the perspective of individual life, including the original life consciousness of human beings, the life care without gender consciousness and the generous and merciful view of life for all things in nature. The fourth chapter discusses the existentialism behind the absence of father. From a higher perspective, from the philosophical dimension, this paper analyzes the problem of existence before essence, alienation in human existence and how to solve alienation by choice,so as to achieve the balance between human inner world and outer world.
