In today’s society,known as the Information Age,intelligence is continuously transforming people’s lives.With technological advancements,various functional smartphones have emerged,enriching and facilitating our lives.However,this development has also given rise to several issues,one of which is smartphone dependence.The high school period is a crucial and cherished phase in one’s life,during which students experience the beauty of youth but are also prone to various psychological problems.For instance,during adolescence,students have not yet fully developed a mature personality,and their self-identity may still be in a state of confusion.They are susceptible to getting immersed in the virtual world of the internet,excessively relying on their phones,and neglecting other important aspects of life.Managing time effectively,dedicating oneself to studies,and avoiding excessive immersion in the digital world are vital during high school.Therefore,it holds significant importance for high school students to seek the meaning of life,manage time efficiently,and reduce their dependence on smartphones.This study employed a questionnaire survey to investigate 778 high school students from a school in Chongqing,China.The research comprised three parts: Part 1 explored and analyzed the current status of smartphone dependence among high school students;Part 2 examined the relationship between students’ sense of life meaning,tendency for time management,and smartphone dependence;Part 3 designed and implemented a group psychological counseling program to enhance students’ sense of life meaning and time management inclination.The study yielded the following findings:(1)Overall,high school students’ smartphone dependence was at a moderately low level.Female students exhibited higher levels of smartphone dependence than male students,particularly in terms of withdrawal reactions and avoidance behaviors.Non-only children displayed a higher degree of uncontrollable smartphone use compared to only children.High school students with better parental relationships demonstrated lower levels of smartphone dependence across all dimensions,except for individual withdrawal reactions.Students from higher socioeconomic backgrounds exhibited lower levels of smartphone dependence than those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.Furthermore,high school students with good relationships with their peers exhibited significantly lower levels of smartphone dependence in terms of uncontrollable and inefficient smartphone use compared to those with poor peer relationships.(2)There was a significant positive correlation between high school students’ sense of life meaning and their inclination for time management.Both factors exhibited a significant negative correlation with smartphone dependence.(3)Time management inclination played a complete mediating role between high school students’ sense of life meaning and smartphone dependence.(4)The group counseling program designed for this study showed significant effectiveness in improving high school students’ sense of life meaning and time management inclination. |
