| The source text for this translation report is the 2021 Canon EOS R series new product launch conference, which was to introduce new products that Canon would release in 2021.Numerous product experience officers were invited to showcase the advantages and features of Canon’s new products through storytelling and interviews. However, the entire event was characterized by strong terminological and cultural issues,as well as shortened oral expressions. This created obstacles in the information transfer process for the interpreters, resulting in many noise problems. The focus of this report is to analyze the noise problems encountered during English-to-Chinese simultaneous interpretation at the new product launch conference,in order to summarize strategies for handling noise in technology-related conference language. The oral simplification, information redundancy, and dense terminology in the Canon new product launch conference created prominent internal noise problems, while cultural differences, abstract language use,and context use created external noise problems. The interpreter proposed corresponding noise handling strategies based on the characteristics of interpretation practice issues. For internal noise, interpreters can clarify components, supplement information, and summarize main information using translation methods. For external noise, interpreters can supplement explanations, visualize information, and grasp the main points to overcome the challenges of cultural differences, abstract language use,and context use.Through simulated interpretation practice and translation report writing, the interpreter has gained a deeper understanding of noise problems in technology-related new product launch conferences. This report provides a set of relevant translation methods based on specific problem-solving techniques during interpretation practice, which can serve as a reference and guidance for addressing similar noise problems in future technology-related new product launch conferences. |
