| The translation report takes the English dramatic text Marisol as a source text for translation practice.The dialogue and monologue of the characters make up the majority of the text.In the text,the language is colloquial and related to everyday life and has lively and vivid artistic and aesthetic characteristics,which can be reflected through the form markers in this text,so the translator should pay attention to the representation of the form markers.The highest frequency of form markers in the source text is found in the lexical makers and figure of speech markers.The lexical markers include interjection markers,vulgarism markers and culturally loaded word makers.The figure of speech markers includes lexical figure of speech markers and structural figure of speech makers.The translator uses the following translation methods and techniques to represent the form markers in the original text.For the interjection and vulgarism markers,the free translation and adaptive translation methods of the domestication and techniques such as addition,reduction and conversion are used.For the culturally loaded word markers,the translation compensation strategy is mainly applied,in which the content of the original text is translated directly and relevant information is added appropriately.For the two figure of speech markers,the literal translation in foreignization is mainly used,supplemented by the adaptive translation method in domestication,and the addition and conversion techniques are adopted.Through the process of translating and writing the practice report,the translator has gained a deeper understanding of the dramatic text.What’s more,the detailed analysis of typical cases has improved the translator’s ability to summarize and analyze problems.The report also summarizes the relevant translation skills,methods and strategies,which is expected to provide some references for the translation practice and research of dramatic texts. |
