In recent years, with the rapid development of computer technology, the application of machine translation has become more and more extensive, breaking through the time and budget constraints of previous translation projects, which is loved by the translation market. The quality of machine translation has been greatly improved compared with previous years, but there are still many limitations. The improvement of machine translation quality requires translators to combine post-editing.This paper is a translation practice report. The source text is taken from Chapter 21 of Introduction to Tea Science, which is mainly about the introduction to tea evaluation, and its translation is helpful for foreign readers to understand the basic knowledge of tea evaluation. The source language involves a large number of tea terms, with clear and objective descriptions and cultural aesthetics.According to Newmark’s theory of text typology, the source text is an informative text, with the reader of the target text on focus. The translator must be faithful to the original author and the language and structure of the source text when translation. The report first describes the project background, project introduction, source text featuress, project requirements and pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation work;then,by combining the classification of post-editing guidelines suggested by TAC(2019)with the author’s translation practice, and comparing Google machine-translated text with the target text, the post-editing guidelines are classified into four levels. At lexical level, clarify terminology of tea science and select correct semantics for polysemous words;at syntactic level, convert tense, add predicate verbs and delete conjunctions;at stylistic level, delete redundant information, add necessary information and change punctuation and format;at cultural level, translate poems correctly and grasp the cultural connotation of the sentences.Through a comparative analysis of the machine-translated text and the target text, the post-editing guidelines for tea science texts are analyzed in an attempt to provide some reference for post-editing of such texts.
