An Action Research Towards Using Multi-interactive Teaching Mode In Oral English Teaching In Junior High Schools

Multi-interactive teaching mode is a new teaching mode that makes full use of all teaching elements in the classroom and carries out communication and interaction comprehensively and creatively in various forms,such as discussion,games and scenario simulation.The use of multi-interactive teaching mode can help to stimulate students’ interest in learning English and improve their English proficiency.However,literature search shows that there are still not enough action research reports on how to effectively use multi-interactive teaching mode in junior high school English oral classes,so this paper reports the action research on multi-interactive teaching mode conducted by the author in the classes she taught,in order to provide reference for optimizing junior high school oral English teaching.This action research selected 48 students from the 7th grade taught by the author in a junior high school in Yantai City as the research participants,and the whole research process lasted for 16 weeks.Two research questions were studied:(1)How can the teacher stimulate students’ interest in learning English through multi-interactive teaching mode?(2)How can the teacher improve students’ oral English proficiency through multi-interactive teaching mode? The author used quantitative and qualitative research instruments to study.Firstly,the author combined the pre-questionnaire and the pre-test scores of oral English test to formulate the action research plan;then in the action research,the author continuously improved the action research plan through interviews,the mid-test scores of oral English test and classroom observation;after the action research,SPSS and EXCEL were used to analyze the pre-test,mid-test and post-test scores of oral English test,and combined with the results of the interview,the effect of multi-interactive teaching mode in stimulating students’ interest in learning English and improving their oral English proficiency was evaluated.The results of the action research showed that the author made the students completely immersed in the interactive activities of English classroom teaching through the comprehensive use of scenario simulation,group discussion,role play and other teaching methods in the teaching process of multi-interactive teaching mode,so that their willingness to participate in interaction became stronger and their interest in learning gradually became stronger;through the use of English funny dubbing,group competition and group presentation in the teaching process of multi-interactive teaching mode,the author provided students with the opportunity to practice oral English,which helped to improve their oral proficiency;in addition,the questionnaire and the interview both showed that these methods and strategies further enhanced students’ interest in learning oral English through comprehensive use.
