This report,based on the author’s interpreting practice from November 10th to 29thas a consecutive interpreter from Chinese to English for the“Seminar on Youth Employment and Development for Zimbabwe”,shades light on the background,features and requirements of this interpreting task,preparation,interpreting process and evaluation,and the analysis of difficulties of this interpreting.The task incorporated numerous redundant and fuzzy information,bringing difficulties to the interpreter during her interpreting.Under the guidance of the Gatekeeping Theory,the interpreter effectively screened the speakers’information by omitting the redundancies and adding information to Chinese expressions and illogical expressions.By presenting ample examples,the interpreter carries out discourse analysis on them with the help of Double-Action Internal Newsflow Model,and proposes relative solutions to each type of difficulties.The interpreter,being audience-oriented,focuses on the speaker’s main ideas,so as to achieve better communication.
