This report is about online tourism promotion interpretation.The three years of the COVID-19 epidemic have made online travelling a new option for many travel enthusiasts.In the online salon in which the author participated,the speaker shared details of the local food and scenic attractions,as well as the local customs with the portal website of the Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei Province and tourism promotion videos.As the interpreter,the author has completed the practice of consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting in the direction of Chinese to English.Enshi is home to several ethnic minorities,including the Tujia and Miao,etc.,and has an abundant minority culture.The promotion speech includes many folklore dialect expressions and proper nouns with the Tujia ethnic minority characteristics,and this is the difficulty and the key point that the author encountered in practice.Guided by the Interpretive Theory,the author utilizes the strategy of de-verbalization and explores the practicality of explanation,transliteration plus explanation,literal translation,and free translation in the practice of online tourism promotion interpreting.This online tourism promotion meeting enriched the author’s practical experience,especially for remote interpreting.This practice brought the author a clearer understanding of the interpreting profession,as well as a better understanding of how to improve her professional competence. |
