The Digital Factory: The Human Labor of Automation is the source text of this translation project. In this book,Chapter 4 “The Distributed Factory: Crowdwork”mainly takes crowdwork as an example to introduce the features of the digital factory. In addition to the nature and characteristics of crowdwork platforms, this Chapter offers insights into the gender distribution and geographical dispersion of crowdworkers.By reading the source text, readers can know more about crowdwork and think about how it works in the digital era.In Chapter 4,there are many metaphors and complex sentences, which present great challenges to the translator. In order to solve these translation difficulties, the translator tries to find what translation techniques are employed under the guidance of two aspects of the adaptation theory. With the help of the contextual adaptability, the translator adopts paraphrasing and omission to deal with metaphors.Following the structural adaptability, shift, division and restructuring are applied to address complex sentences. Therefore, the translator can adapt to the context and linguistic structure of the target language without changing the original meaning of the source text,so as to achieve effective communication between the author of the source text and the target reader.
