The documentary is an important tool and carrier for the narrative of poverty alleviation,and its essence is documentary image narrative.Images are temporal,but this temporality is often expressed through space.Space is a geographical concept,which can be measured by perception and observation,including symbols,representations and other elements.How to strengthen the authenticity of the narrative of the poverty alleviation documentary through the image space,so as to arouse the emotional resonance of the community,carry forward the great spirit of poverty alleviation,and dispel the doubts of the "others" represented by Western countries on China ’s poverty alleviation achievements is a topic worth exploring in the new era.Space is both material and conscious.Shao Peiren divided the space in media geography into four different levels,namely the perceivable tangible world,the ever-changing imagery world,the intertwining zone of material and experience,and the local space.Based on this,this article selects the documentary No Poverty Land produced by TVB as the research object.Starting from the perspective of media geography,it explores the spatial production,construction,and symbolic logic of poverty alleviation themed documentaries from the perception of material forms to the construction of spiritual levels.In No Poverty Land,spatial narrative is divided into physical space,symbolic space,and spiritual space narrative.Through the spatial weaving of the natural image of the vast countryside and the public space of the private space,the time compression accelerates the wonders and the spatial transformation of the regional reconstruction of the mobile migration,the picture of poverty alleviation is drawn in the practice of physical space;combined with semiotic research,starting from the construction of pre-text,paratext,link-text and comment text,through symbolic interactive space to achieve ideographic and deepen narrative connotation;finally,through the writing of spiritual space,the narrative of poverty alleviation is out of the " wilderness ",highlighting the spirit of people-oriented,gender justice and common destiny,and forming a sense of community.However,as subjective agents,active reformers of geography and documentaries,human understanding is often geographically biased.Once the spatial narrative scale is unbalanced,it is often accompanied by spatial dislocation and discourse misreading.Therefore,the narrative of poverty alleviation documentaries should construct an overall interactive,balanced and harmonious media scale mechanism,so as to achieve the unity of macro scale and micro scale,and the unity of locality and globalization.It is necessary to arrange multiple spatial levels,express in depth,and take care of the world of local themes,so as to reduce the spatial spectacle brought by highlighting and shielding,and bridge the cultural differences under cross-cultural communication.
