| An Overview of Yellow River Culture introduces the development of the Yellow River culture and describes the development of the Yellow River Basin from early to contemporary.This book also intersperses with the description of folk customs and bioethics,and describes the ecological and cultural value and modern transformation of the Yellow River.As the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin has become a national strategy,a relatively comprehensive understanding of the Yellow River culture also becomes an urgent need of the general public and college teachers and students.At the same time,as an important part of Chinese civilization,the Yellow River culture plays an important role in the history of the Chinese nation.The book analyzes the development of the this culture and introduces the evolution path to the public.In this context,the selection of this book for translation practice is conducive to providing reference for the translated texts related to the Yellow River culture,and also contributes a little to the cultural transmission.This report is based on the Chinese-English translation practice of Preface and Chapter13 of An Overview of Yellow River Culture.There is currently no English version of this book.Guided by Rice’s text typology,this report explores the application of this theory in the Chinese to English translation of this practice,and summarizes the corresponding translation strategies based on specific case studies.Through theoretical analysis,it can be seen that the translation practice text is an informative text,which focuses on the complete and accurate communication of the text content,and the language has strong logic.Therefore,the translation should be faithful to the original text,and the content expression is accurate,complete and logical.This translation report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,mainly including the relevant introduction of the source text and the significance of selecting the source text for translation practice.The second chapter is the description of the translation process.In this chapter,the author elaborates the problems encountered in translation and lists the situations during pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation.Chapter three is the key chapter of this report.In this chapter,the author starts from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels respectively,comprehensively analyzes the characteristics of the source text and the Yellow River culture,and tries to resolve the differences between Chinese and English,so as to make the expression of the translated text conform to the expression habits of the target language,and ensure that the target readers can smoothly accept the information conveyed by the text.On the other hand,the characteristic culture of the Yellow River in the translation is consciously retained,so that the readers of the translation can better understand the culture of the Yellow River.The forth chapter is a summary of this report.This translation practice not only improves the author’s translation ability and practical ability,but also accumulates experience for the future translation of relevant informative texts. |
