The Jinzhou Deputy Capital Office is the only remaining well-preserved and welllaid out government office of a senior military official stationed in the Eight Banners during the Qing Dynasty in Northeast China. It is located at No.255 Democracy Street in the old city of Ding,in the district of Jinzhou,Dalian,Liaoning Province, and is now a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit in Liaoning and a patriotic education base in Dalian. In the 23 rd year of the Daoguang era,the Qing government,in order to strengthen the sea defence of Liaoning and consolidate its rule, moved the Vice-Captain from Xiongyue to Jinzhou and built the original Jinzhou City Shouyu Office, which is now the existing Jinzhou Vice-Captain’s Office. The Jinzhou Vice President’s Office is a’front office and a back office’,with a wooden frame, which basically conforms to the building regulations of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The Qing dynasty Eight Banners military official’s offices were built in a distinctive style. It is not only a manifestation of the military attributes of the Qing Dynasty, but also a source of regional political, economic, military, cultural and other three-dimensional civilisation in the Liaonan region.Relying on historical materials and archives, and with the help of fieldwork,we investigate and study the Jinzhou Vice President’s Office, taking time as a clue and dynasties as a panel, and combine the historical background, the historical evolution of the city in which it is located, the development and changes of the office, the functional partition, and the architectural layout, etc.,to sort out and restore the "original appearance" of the Jinzhou Vice President’s Office. We hope that we can explain to more people who love this hot land about the Jinzhou Vice President’s Office from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China and the mountain and sea culture of the Jinzhou area in Liaonan, and make suggestions for the reasonable protection and utilization of the Jinzhou Vice President’s Office in the future. |
