A Study On The Reception Of Li Jieren River Novels

Li Jieren " Ripples Across Stagnant Water ","Before the Storm" and "Huge Wave"(referred to as "River Novels"),published in 1936-1937,established his position in the history of modern literature.This novel has a breakthrough significance in the form,language and ideological content of modern Chinese novels.However,as Li Jieren painstaking work,the "River Novels" was born but failed to gain the recognition of the market and the literary world.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,Li Jieren accepted the suggestion of the People’s Literature Publishing House to rewrite and republish the "River Novels",but the feedback was still weak.Since the new era,with the change of social and cultural context and the innovation of communication methods,the acceptance of Li Jieren "River Novels" has shown a warming trend.Literary critics,mass readers,literary history and film and television adaptations have been interpreted and analyzed in a variety of ways,including praise and derogation.In view of the typicality and uniqueness of the acceptance of Li Jieren "Roman-fleuve",this paper attempts to carefully sort out its acceptance process for nearly a century,and will try to include the author,ordinary readers,professional researchers,and literary history writers into the scope of the acceptance of "River Novels" as far as possible from the three dimensions of communication,reader acceptance,and literary history review,Efforts should be made to clarify the special phenomenon in the diachronic acceptance of "River Novels" and explore the evolution of its artistic characteristics and social and cultural atmosphere.The paper is divided into five parts.The introduction part briefly combs the development of Li Jieren literary criticism of the "River Novels" in the past decades,and summarizes and analyzes the research articles and research directions.After sifting through our choices,we found that the interpretation of Li Jieren "River Novels" was clearly phased and regional.Many researchers have also found this phenomenon,which has become a "acceptance problem" of academic concern.Through dynamic sorting,returning to the historical scene and restoring the production process,interpretation and social response of the "River Novels" at different historical stages,we can deeply explore the reasons behind the changes.The first part of the paper mainly makes a longitudinal overview of the acceptance process of "River Novels".Because of the long time of acceptance of the "River Novels",1976 was taken as the dividing point.The first chapter mainly examines the acceptance of "River Fiction" from 1936 to 1976.First of all,we will sort out the writing background of the "River Novels" and the literary environment before and after its publication,and focus on the discussion of literary production.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,Li Jieren made a major revision to the "River Novels",so he discussed the publication and dissemination of the new and old versions of the "River Novels",the reading of ordinary readers,and the comments and interpretations of researchers.The second chapter mainly examines the acceptance of the "River Novels" since1976.In 1976,Li Jieren entered literary history writing.The first section of this chapter takes the literary history works as the object of study,and studies the status and influence of the "River Novels" in the literary history.Taking time as the axis,this paper analyzes the acceptance and certification of the "River Novels" by the literary historical works published in different times and under different ideologies.The second section focuses on the publication and dissemination of "Roman-fleuve",and examines and analyzes how "River Novels" can win the attention of ordinary audiences through new media.The third section focuses on the film and television adaptation of "River Novels".The film and television adaptation is a very important part of the acceptance process of "Roman-fleuve",which has greatly promoted its dissemination among the public.In addition,film and television adaptation can also reflect the acceptance and certification of the adaptation of the "Roman-fleuve".The third chapter,starting from the reception history of the "River Novels",finds out the existing problems,which constitute the "riddle of Li Jieren reception".This chapter will analyze these acceptance problems,starting with the dominant discourse of the times,critical standards,geographical and cultural identity,changes in communication mechanisms,etc.,in order to obtain the decoding of the "mystery of Li Jieren acceptance",and provide some new inspiration and ideas for future research.The epilogue summarizes the changes in the reception of "River Novels",and summarizes the relationship between the reception effect of the work and the social and cultural changes of the times.From being ignored to being discovered,from being criticized to being justified,the classic works can withstand the test of time,but the road of research will not end,and more value and significance of the "River Novels" need to be explored.
