This paper summarizes ZhuGuangqian' s early thoughts of literary criticism, which has been little touched. By analyzing it in the history of modern literary criticism, the paper tries to reveal its intension and stress its characteristics, and then judge its contribution to the history of modern literary criticism. The paper consists of five chaptersChapter I: the humanitarian orientation of literary criticism.ZhuGuangqian thinks that the function of literature was to develop people' s feelings, form an artistic life, and liberate humanity. This outlook of literary utility decides his orientation of literal criticism.Chapter II: The criterion with the artistic beauty at the core.ZhuGuangqian analyses the artistic beauty by Croce' s theory of Intuition and WangGuowei' s theory of artistic realm, then he appraises the Chinese ancient poetry and modern literature by it.Chapter III the mode of literary criticism which includes understanding , appreciating and introspecting .Drawing good points from kinds of criticism, ZhuGuangqian builds up a mode of literary criticism which includes understanding, appreciating and introspecting .Chapter IV: Critic' s lenient approach and pure literary tastes .In view of the situation that the modern critical circles has many factional strives and lacks artistic taste, ZhuGuangqian advocates that critics should be lenient andenhance literary accomplishment.Chapter V: Criticism of Chinese wwest inter-explanation Giving an example of ShiLun, the paper tries to introduceZhuGuangqian' s critical achievements of Chinese-- westinter-explanation.
