| With rapid economic development,greenhouse gases are soaring,causing irreversible climate change,which is a global issue facing mankind.In the context of the carbon emission revolution in China,the author selects some excerpts from the eleventh chapter Australasia,of the AR6 WGII report: Climate Change 2022: Impacts,Adaptation and Vulnerability,hoping to provide some reference for scholars in climate change field,convey the seriousness of climate change and raise people’s awareness of sustainable development.According to Peter Newmark’s classification of text types,the source text is an informative text,mainly aiming at conveying facts and contents.Translation Shifts Theory,which emphasizes information equivalence rather than formal correspondence,is applied to guide this translation project.The author discusses the guiding role of the theory in translating informative texts from level shifts and category shifts based on the comprehensive analysis of the linguistic features of the source text,and the differences between English and Chinese languages.At the same time,it is necessary to combine a variety of translation methods such as amplification,omission,division and conversion etc.depending on specific situations to solve translation difficulties and make the translation more natural and fluent.This translation practice not only promotes the author’s knowledge and ability in translation methods,theoretical application and professionalism,but also provides a reference for translation strategies and methods of climate change texts. |
