Research On The Content Feature And Communication Effect Of Micro-Document In Mainstream Media

With the support of national policies and the deepening of media integration,China’s documentaries have shown a good development trend in recent years.Micro documentaries adapted to media integration,such as "Palace Museum 100","If National Treasures Can Speak",and "Wuhan: My Diary of the War" Epidemic ",have begun to emerge and become popular.In February 2022,the State Administration of Radio,Film and Television issued the "Opinions on Promoting the High Quality Development of Documentary Films in the New Era",fully affirming the value and status of documentaries,injecting strong impetus into the high-quality development of documentary films in the new era.How to leverage the historical value,cultural inheritance value,ideological and artistic value,and social dissemination value of documentary images in the context of media integration is a topic worth considering at present.As a variant of documentaries in the new era,micro documentaries have also played a significant role in telling Chinese stories and promoting excellent traditional Chinese culture in recent years.Based on this background,this article conducts in-depth research on micro documentaries produced and broadcasted by the three leading mainstream media,CCTV,People’s Daily,and Xinhua News Agency.It explores how mainstream media can spread cultural knowledge and promote the main theme through micro documentaries in the new media environment,and play a positive role in showcasing Chinese aesthetics and disseminating contemporary Chinese values.This article uses content analysis and questionnaire survey methods to study mainstream media micro documentaries from two perspectives: content characteristics and communication effectiveness.In Chapter 2 of the paper,the concept of mainstream media micro documentaries is defined and their development process is sorted out.It can be seen that in recent years,with the increasing number of mainstream media micro documentaries,mainstream media represented by CCTV have begun to form a columnar development of micro documentaries.Through research,it has also been found that mainstream media micro documentaries exhibit new characteristics in terms of communication subjects,content,channels,and audience usage and satisfaction.The third chapter of the paper is supported by the theory of narratology.Through case study and content analysis methods,a total of 90 mainstream media micro documentaries from CCTV’s "Micro 9",People’s Daily,and Xinhua News were selected as research samples,and analyzed from the aspects of topic selection type,content production method,narrative perspective,narrative structure,narrative style,and narrative form.Research has found that the content of these three mainstream media micro documentaries is relatively rich,and each topic has its own emphasis;The content production method is not only limited to mainstream media PGC content,but also includes some UGC and PUGC content;The narrative perspective mostly adopts the micro individual first person perspective;The narrative structure adopts both a horizontal and a progressive approach;The narrative style has shifted from grand to micro,focusing on small people and events,and actively adapting to the discourse style of young people;In terms of narrative form,more emphasis is placed on enriching image expression with new technologies.Its successful experience is worthy of in-depth learning and reference.In Chapter 4 of the paper,a detailed analysis was conducted on the characteristics of the audience through a questionnaire survey,aiming to explore their cognitive,attitudinal,and behavioral performance after watching mainstream media micro documentaries.Finally,combining content analysis and questionnaire analysis methods,this paper summarizes the obvious shortcomings of the three mainstream media micro documentaries of CCTV’s "Micro 9",People’s Daily,and Xinhua Net in terms of content release and promotion,content dissemination,and user interaction,and proposes corresponding optimization suggestions to address these issues.I hope to provide reference for the future development of mainstream media micro documentaries,and also hope to promote people’s understanding and understanding of scientific and cultural knowledge and mainstream ideology through the dissemination and influence of mainstream media micro documentaries.I hope to play a leading role in telling world stories to China and telling Chinese stories to the world well.
