On Path Of Ethical And Cultural Education In Foreign Language Teaching Based On The OBE

The course of Fundamentals of British and American Culture is an important bridge for English majors to understand the politics,economics,culture,etc.of major western countries like the UK and the US.Under the background of implementing ethical and cultural education,this course should pay special attention to the combination of cultural knowledge teaching with ethical and cultural education.In view of this,this thesis takes “Fundamentals of British and American Culture” as the study objective to explore the path of implementing ethical and cultural education in this course.The research questions are as follows: 1)What is an effective path of implementing ethical and cultural education in Fundamentals of British and American Culture;2)What are the feedbacks of students? In terms of the research implementation,guided by the theories of OBE and holistic education,this study analyzes the five aspects of teaching objective,teaching content,teaching evaluation,a teacher’s speeches and behaviors,and teaching summary,puts forward the ethical and cultural education framework of Fundamentals of British and American Culture,and applies it into teaching practice.The research objects of this thesis are 80 sophomore students majoring in English in North China Electric Power University.Three questionnaires were adopted in this study,and the results were quantitatively analyzed.The results show that:(1)The ethical and cultural education framework of Fundamentals of British and American Culture based on OBE is an effective educational framework,which can achieve the natural combination of teaching and the cultivation of people,and is conducive to realize the educational goal of holistic education,which is to cultivate students with all-round development of morality,talent and ability;(2)As far as the students are concerned,the teaching practice not only enables them to get a general overview of British and American culture,but also improves their cross-cultural ability and the ability of critical thinking,and enhances their self-confidence of national culture and patriotism.The study provides practical strategies for the implementation of ethical and cultural education in the course of Fundamentals of British and American Culture,and also hopes to provide reference for the integration of ethical and cultural education in other foreign language courses.Besides,although the study systematically describes the implementation framework and applies it into teaching practice,its rationality and operability need to be further tested in practice.
