The study of rhymes in vernacular novels aims to summarize and summarize the different characteristics of rhymes in vernacular novels during the Song,Yuan,Ming,and Qing dynasties,as well as their role in narrative,in order to comprehensively demonstrate the development and changes of rhymes in vernacular novels.Through careful reading and comparison of the text,it can be concluded that the rhymes in vernacular novels exhibit different characteristics in terms of stylistic use,content and emotions,and narrative function during the Song,Yuan,Ming,and Qing dynasties.Firstly,it is the use of literary styles.There are various types of verse styles,but the main ones used are still poetry and colloquialism.In terms of source,it has shifted from multiple citations to multiple original works.Secondly,the content and emotions of the verse have become increasingly narrow,with the object of description shifting from describing human like scenery to specifically depicting strange people and scenery;In terms of literary nature,the literary connotations of rhymes that have been valued continue to improve;In terms of ideology,from reasoning and education to expressing individuality;In terms of style,it has undergone multiple transformations from a marketplace to a desk and then to a new marketplace that combines elegance and vulgarity.Overall,the content of the verse continues to narrow,but its literary quality has improved.In addition to expressing individuality,many works are also full of preaching stereotypes.In terms of narrative function,the frequency of using rhyme as a language for communication decreased,and its narrative function was developed relatively well in the Ming Dynasty,but it was abandoned and diluted in the Qing Dynasty.Overall,rhyme plays a significant narrative role in storytelling,but in the end,it no longer receives much attention.After summarizing the content and narrative characteristics of storytelling novels,it can be said that rhyme is of great significance for storytelling novels.It enriches storytelling novels and enhances their literary characteristics.However,at the same time,the rigid and educational content of rhyme also affects the healthy development of storytelling novels.
