As an important part of carrying out education for all-round development,aesthetic education aims to establish students’ correct aesthetic concept and help students develop healthy aesthetic tastes.Furthermore,aesthetic education is a significant way to develop students’ specialties and cultivate their various abilities,as well as an essential link to promote students’ all-round development.With the proposal of the double reduction policy,the importance of aesthetic education has been realized by more and more people.Therefore,the research on the Chinese translation of aesthetic education should be strengthened to provide high-quality works for readers.This translation is excerpted from the second and third chapters of Music and Life: A Study of the Relations Between Ourselves and Music by Thomas Whitney Surette,which has a high academic value.In terms of language features,there are a lot of nominalization structures,passive voice for objective statements,and long sentences to express complex concepts.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,this paper report analyzes the key and difficult points of academic text translation from the lexical and syntactic levels,so as to summarize the translation strategies of academic texts.At the lexical level,the translation skills of amplification,omission and word category conversion are adopted to solve the problems of unfamiliar meanings and vague concepts to make the translation more natural.At the syntactic level,the translator employs the translation strategy of voice conversion to translate passive sentences into active sentences and non-subject sentences.For the translation of long and difficult sentences,the translation techniques of division and inversion are used to solve the problems of lengthy expression and unclear meaning,aiming to ensure that the response of the target text recipient is the same or similar to the response of the original text recipient.Guided by Nida’s functional equivalence theory,this paper analyzes and studies the translation of academic texts with a view to providing a useful reference for the translation practice of such texts. |
