Huang Anlun composed the piano suite "Dunhuang Dream" based on three melodies from the ballet of the same name.The No.2 ’Ji Yuetian’ is based on the second act of the same name ballet,which describes the picture of fairy country where the goddesses play music and dance.This paper focuses on how the composer integrates Chinese traditional pentatonic melodies with western piano compositon techniques and summarizesthe specific techniques covered in this work.this paper consists of three parts,the first part mainly introduces the backgroung and artistic connotation of ’Ji Yuetian’ ’s image in Buddhism of the work;the second part uses author’s learned theoretical knowledge to analyze the piano suite II ’Ji Yuetian’from four aspects:structure,theme development,harmony and texture,to discover ’tradion’ and ’modernity’ in the work;and the third part selectes three representative techniques with author’s practice experience to explore the performance interpretation of this work,which are the treatment of melodic and non-melodic materials,dual tone techniques,and the ues of pedals.Based on the theorical analysis of the music structure and the summary of the techniques in practice,this paper makes a more in-depth analtsis of ’Ji Yuetian’,handles music emotions and performance direction,in order to provide other performers with new ideas.
