A Performance Study On Huang Anlun’s Piano Composition "Two Preludes"

Huang Anlun is a famous contemporary Chinese American composer.He created“Two Preludes” based on the Western music genre of “Prelude” and incorporating elements of Chinese folk music.This work is the earliest prelude creation practice integrating Chinese folk music elements in China,and to some extent,it has realized the sinicization of prelude creation.This work has high performance value and research significance.This article conducts a performance study of Huang Anlun’s“Two Preludes” through three chapters.The first chapter is an overview of Huang Anlun and his piano work “Two Preludes”.This paper studies the influence of Huang Anlun’s life,the origin of the title of his work,the background of his creation,and the elements of Western preludes and Chinese folk music on Huang Anlun’s composition techniques,and analyzes the elements of Chinese folk music contained in his creation,thereby laying the groundwork for later performance research.The second chapter is the performance research of“Two Preludes”.This chapter is based on the creation overview of “Two Preludes”,combining with the author’s performance experience,to analyze the performance difficulties and key points in the music.On this basis,we will explore how to better express the timbre characteristics of folk musical instruments using the piano.The third chapter is the enlightenment of the stage performance practice of “Two Preludes”.Accurate reading,effective memorization,and improving one’s own psychological construction are the keys to completing the stage performance of “Two Preludes”.Through the study of the performance of “Two Preludes”,we have deepened our understanding of the musical text of the work and concluded that the key to stage performance of the work lies not only in paying attention to the relevant technical skills of performance,but also in presenting the folk music elements therein.At the same time,through the performance research of this work,it can enable Huang Anlun and his works to gain more attention,and also provide performance reference for relevant track practitioners.
