| Jiangxi,located in the inland region,originally relied on the rivers within the territory to communicate north and south through Dayu Ridge Trade Road.Especially in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the economy developed rapidly and the culture was particularly prosperous.In modern times,due to the imperialist invasion,China opened its closed door,and the original trade of Guangzhou turned into the opening of most areas along the coastal and Yangtze rivers.Jiangxi,which was originally a thoroughfare between north and south,lost its transportation advantage and weakened its commercial ties with the surrounding provinces.In the Qing Dynasty,the conservative rulers of Jiangxi government made the starting line of Jiangxi industry lag behind that of other provinces.It was not until 1882 that the first national bourgeoisie factory--Luo Xingchang Machinery Factory--appeared in Jiangxi.Since then,Jiangxi has stepped into industrialization at a slow pace.There are three important stages in the development of Jiangxi’s modern industry.The first stage is the late Qing Dynasty,from the emergence of the first factory to the establishment of the Republic of China.The most influential one is the New Deal at the end of the Qing Dynasty.Due to the neglect of the government and the weak national capital power,the construction of heavy industry in this period was not completed at all.At the same time,there was regional imbalance.Except Nanchang and Jiujiang,there were only some small-scale factories scattered in other places of Jiangxi.The second stage was from the founding of the Republic of China to the beginning of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.The Republic of China was established in the Revolution of 1911,and the environment for economic construction was relatively relaxed.However,during the Republic of China,Jiangxi was frequently affected by wars and its industrial construction was slow.However,during this period,several large scale and influential factories appeared in Jiangxi,such as Jiuxing Cotton Mill and Yusheng Match Factory,which was a rare highlight moment in Jiangxi’s industrial construction.The third stage was from the all-out Anti-Japanese War to the surrender of Japan.In this stage,the coastal factories moved to the interior,the Japanese army blockaded the coast,the national government moved to the rear,and the government of Jiangxi Province moved to Taihe.The industry of Jiangxi province gained great development opportunities,the extreme imbalance of light and light industries was broken,and all walks of life presented a prosperous scene.However,due to the Japanese Army’s actions in Henan,Hunan and Guangxi on the eve of the end of the war and the inaction of the nationalist government after the victory of the AntiJapanese War,the newly built industrial base of Jiangxi was destroyed again and slowly recovered after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.From more than half a century of industrial development in Jiangxi,we should realize that industrial development needs the joint efforts of the government and enterprises,the government should formulate positive policies,build a peaceful and orderly environment,enterprises should pay attention to technological innovation,give play to their subjective initiative,and the government and enterprises should interact positively,so that the industry can develop in a healthy and long-term way. |
