With the development and progress of society, extreme weather phenomena occur frequently, which seriously affects the development of the global economy and society, and the environmental problems caused by climate change have become global problems of common concern to the international community.Climate change is not only an environmental issue, but also a development and survival ones.It is of great significance to explore the translation skills of relevant texts,so as to improve the readability of the translated texts and raise people’s awareness of environmental protection. The source text of this report is an excerpt from Chapter 1 to Chapter 3 of Warmth:Coming of Age at the End of Our World created by Daniel Cherell,an organizer of the U.S.climate movement. It is mainly based on Theory of Translation as Adaptation and Selection(TAS)in eco-translatology,and the framework is constructed from the perspectives of linguistic and communicative dimension. In the report, the case study is to analyze the adaptive selection of translator on linguistic and communicative dimension, evaluate the gains and losses of translation, and then improve the quality of translation. In the linguistic dimension, the translation methods and techniques of amplification, omission, shift, division and reversing were mainly used to solve the lexical and syntactical transformation. In the communicative dimension, the translation methods and techniques such as sentence reorganization and shift were mainly used to achieve the communicative intent of the original text,so as to achieve the ecological balance between the original text and the translated text. This report applies the combination of the Theory of Translation as Adaptation and Selection(TAS)and translation techniques to the case study. Its significance is to provide readers with a more readable work for understanding environmental issues related to climate change, and to provide some references for translation of academic works.
