The industrial revolution has pushed human society into a period of rapid development,while the ecological environment has been seriously damaged.How to provide theoretical and ideological reference for environmental protection practitioners has become an important topic of the global environmental movement.Animation films have great influence and cohesion,while animation films themed on ecological and environmental protection have created a public space to trigger relevant environmental discourse debates,pointing out a positive and effective path for environmental communication.This paper understands the latest research situation at home and abroad through literature research,from which the knowledge theory is conducive to the writing of the paper.Guided by the relevant theories of communication and film semiotics,this paper analyzes the symbols and ecological cultural meanings of the most representative parts of American,Japanese and Chinese animation films,and discusses the interaction between symbols and meanings.By sorting out,observing and analyzing these animation films,this paper sorts out the commonness and individuality of the ecological narrative theme of animation films in various countries,and makes a comparative study of their respective symbol presentation characteristics and embodiment of ecological cultural significance,and tries to discuss the future development direction of Chinese environmental protection theme animation films on this basis.By comparison,this paper reveals that the American animation films represented by Disney often use animals as the main characters in the construction of ecological symbols,and are good at using spatio-temporal scenes and magic elements without region.Most of the leading characters in Miyazaki hayao’s anime are girls,who are deeply influenced by the concept of "nature worship" in the construction of scene symbols.They are good at creating pre-industrial natural scenery such as forest and countryside.Chinese animation films have made many successful attempts.On the basis of drawing lessons from foreign experience,they have integrated more traditional Chinese philosophical thoughts and national characteristics into the construction process of symbols,showing a strong sense of home.Disney makes good use of fairy tale strategy to complete the transformation from text to audiovisual,and insists on diversity and inclusiveness in the use of symbols.However,the deficiency lies in that the consideration of ecological issues is only a subsidiary of commercial purposes.Miyazaki hayao is good at hand-drawn realistic style of animation,and is good at using fairy images to carry out natural "charm",but due to the influence of cultural differences,the audience has some difficulties in decoding and there is a tendency of disconnection between ideal and reality.Chinese animation films are good at constructing ecological codes with national characteristics,but they tend to fall into the trap of "beauty lies in fur".This paper holds that under the guidance of the concept of ecological civilization,grasping the balance between enlightenment and entertainment functions,setting flexible audience positioning and activating national cultural resources can become the trend of the construction of ecological cultural symbols of Chinese animation films,and expects Chinese animation films to make a new leap in this aspect in the future.This paper did not analyze from the perspective of non-visual symbols(such as language symbols,sound symbols,etc.),and the completeness of the construction of symbol system was insufficient,and the sample size was also limited.These defects also provided the direction and motivation for the author’s future study and research. |
