Abstract/Summary:
In the field of second language teaching,experts and scholars have been exploring the most appropriate teaching methods for a long time.As key elements of language,vocabulary and grammar have been research focus in second language teaching,while how to evaluate vocabulary and grammar instruction has been a concern and challenge for language teachers all the time in second language teaching.Given all this,Evaluating Second Language Vocabulary and Grammar Instruction was chosen as the translation material in this translation project and it is hoped that the translation can provide a reference for those who are engaged in second language teaching.The source text of the report is excerpted from Chapter 5 of Evaluating Second Language Vocabulary and Grammar Instruction,where the author evaluates research and classroom practice related to second language vocabulary and grammar teaching.The source text is an informative text with rigorous,standardized and academic expressions,so the translator faces difficulties at lexical,syntactic and textual level in the process of translation.For a fluent and faithful translation,Skopos theory is employed for theoretical guidance in this project.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,the translator can find a way out of a difficulty by using numerous translation methods such as free translation,conversion,amplification,recombination and comprehensive translation method.Through this translation project,the translator expects to promote the application of Skopos theory into the translation of informative texts and to provide a reference in choosing appropriate translation theories for future translations of the same type.
