| This translation practice report is based on the work of Karaya Joseph,“If Wine Could Talk”.The author’s dream journey involving wine is the subject of the book.The author hopes readers to be inspired by the story to pursue their dreams.The original text also describes different varieties of grapes and how to select and taste wine,all based on the author’s own experience.It aims to alter and expand the public’s ideas of wine and wine culture by presenting them from the perspective of expert sommeliers.The original language is simple with straightforward words and frequently rhetoric.In order for readers to understand,the translation should also be straightforward and comprehensible.The translator selects the first three chapters and the last two chapters to translate.The Skopos Theory guides translation practice and report writing,and the main translation challenges are studied and analyzed.The translator achieves communication goals by using footnotes,four-character words,and rhetorical devices while adhering to the Skopos Rule as the primary guiding principle.The translation follows the Coherence Rule and employs amplification and inversion techniques to produce a translation that is both semantically and logically coherent.To ensure consistency in expression and linguistic style between the translation and the source text,the translator combines the Fidelity Rule principle with the translation strategy of Free translation and Literal translation.Finally,the translation is literary and readable. |
