Abstract/Summary:
Liu Ji was a neo-Confucianist in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties,as well as a famous writer and statesman in history.Liu Ji’s neo-Confucianism not only accords with the characteristics of The Times at the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty,but also contains its own uniqueness.This paper firstly introduces Liu Ji’s life works and the social and political background and ideological and academic background of the emergence of Neo-Confucianism.Secondly,it sorts out the parts related to Neo-Confucianism in Liu Ji’s existing articles and works,and interprets and analyzes the main contents of his Neo-Confucianism from four aspects: the theory of rational-qi,the theory of mind,the theory of time and his thought of "helping the world" :In Liu Ji’s theory of qi,"Li" is the origin of everything and determines the development direction and possibility of things.Qi is the embodiment of Li,has the characteristics of Li,and can reflect and represent it.On the theory of mind nature,based on the theory of regulating qi,Liu Ji discussed the relationship between mind,sex and emotion,analyzed the source of good and evil,and further analyzed the nature of human nature is good,while the source of evil is influenced by Qi.The phenomenon of good and evil is closely related to sex and emotion,which shows the influence of acquired environment on habits.It emphasizes that the bias should be corrected through acquired learning and the good nature should be restored.In terms of effort,Liu Ji advocated internal effort for moral cultivation,proposed the practice method of "Quannian" and emphasized the role of "respect",so as to achieve the realm of sanctification of adults.In the thought of "aiding the world",Liu Ji inherited and developed the theory of Yongjia School of meritorious service,emphasizing the application of the economy and the world,taking Confucian "benevolence" as the foundation,emphasizing the people-oriented thought,applying what is learned to the world,and making up for the world.Finally,the author makes a comprehensive evaluation of Liu Ji’s neo-Confucianism,and analyzes its historical influence,contemporary value and limitations.By studying the main content of Liu Ji’s Neo-Confucianism,exploring his ideological background and determining his ideological status,it reflects the characteristics of The Times and the development of Neo-Confucianism in the Yi Dynasty of the Yuan and Ming Dynasties.
