| Confucian temple,also known as Confucius Temple and Xuansheng temple,is a place for offering sacrifices to Confucius in previous dynasties.In addition to Confucius as the main worshiper,it also includes more than 100 Confucianism.These worshippers are divided into four levels: four matching,twelve philosophers,sages and Confucianism.As the most important place for religious activities of Confucianism,Confucian temple has been valued by the rulers of various dynasties since its formation,and the rise and fall of Confucianism from the worship status reflects the ideological changes of various dynasties,the problems of the times and the choice of the Empire.Dong Zhongshu was a "Confucian sect" in the Han Dynasty,but he didn’t enter the Confucian temple until the Yuan Dynasty,and lived at the end of the worship.During the reign of Kangxi,Xu Sanli was sparse and proposed to adjust his position of worship,which set off a great discussion on the worship of Confucian temples.The main issue of debate is the standard of the order of Confucian temples.The Han scholar bureaucrats advocated that Confucian temples should be worshipped in the order of times,while the rulers of the Qing Dynasty took morality as the standard of the adjustment of Confucian temples.This debate reflects the crisis of political and cultural legitimacy faced by the Qing Dynasty,and the change of dynasties in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the difference between China and foreigners,and the dispute over governance have become the key obstacles to the justification of the Qing Dynasty.In order to solve the above problems,from the perspective of Neo Confucianism,Kangxi understood the dispute between the Ming and Qing Dynasties as the debate between orthodoxy and heresy,constructed the image of "holy king" of "unity of governance and Taoism" through the practice of "advocating orthodoxy and eliminating heresy",shaped himself as a successor and protector of Taoism,and appealed to the construction of personal authority for legitimacy and sanctity;Xu Sanli respected Dong Zi’s theory,and "tracing the Tao from heaven" focused on the commitment to the fate of the community.While affirming the authority of the Qing Dynasty,he laid the legitimacy and sanctity on the pursuit of heaven,and tried to bring the Qing Dynasty into the historical narrative of Confucianism.In this regard,reviewing this discussion is not only of significance to the history of thought,but also helpful to understand the significance of Confucianism in the construction of the country and nationality and the efforts made by the Qing Dynasty in this regard. |
