A Practice Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of Traveling With Tang Poems

Documentary,as the carrier of culture transmission,plays an important role in international cultural exchange and showing a good national image with a variety of aesthetic expressions.Tang poetry with rich cultural connotations is a treasure of Chinese culture,which has attracted worldwide attention.This thesis is a report on the practice of simulated consecutive interpretation of the documentary Traveling with Tang Poems.The documentary Traveling with Tang Poems is about tourism and culture.Based on Tang Poems,it combines local customs and humanistic scenery,showing the beautiful image of China.The author chooses the first episode of the series Jiang Hu and the second episode Old Friend as the source materials of this simulation practice.In the practice report,the author describes the process of simulated communication in detail,and emphatically analyzes the difficulties and problems encountered in the practice process and the corresponding solutions,including the following three aspects: the interpretation of culture-specific items,processing of Chinese run-on sentences and information redundancy.Through case analysis,the author puts forward the corresponding solutions.The following strategies are mainly adopted to solve the problem of culture-specific items interpretation: firstly,transliteration with explication of proper nouns;secondly,free translation is adopted in proverb,couplet and poems;thirdly,substitution translation strategy for the lack of cultural connotation in interpreting culturespecific items;and lastly,metaphrase method for Chinese cuisine name.There are two main difficulties in in Chinese run-on sentences: difficulty in identifying subjects and confusion in logic.To solve the above problems,the author puts forward the strategy of splitting up the sentences and adding conjunctions.The problem of information redundancy mainly includes two aspects: one is that there is too much useless spoken information,which leads to some message missing and affects the understanding of the audience.The author puts forward the combination strategy to reorganize the information.The second is semantic information repetition.The same semantic information is repeated many times.In this regard,the author puts forward the strategy of omitting information and getting rid of the original form.Based on the analysis of a large number of real language materials in this simulated communication practice,the author has accumulated relevant experience in interpretation practice and improved the ability of interpretation,hoping to provide some reference for the interpretation of such culture and tourism documentaries in the future.
