Looking around the world today, the development of cultural industries has been raised to an unprecedented level and has become an important strategic industry affecting the economy, people’s livelihood and even social development of a country. As the most international cultural product, the film industry has also become an important part of the cultural industry, and its development not only affects the acceptance of the country’s image in the international arena, but also carries the historical mission of spreading and promoting national culture. Therefore, the overseas promotion of Chinese films is not only crucial to the development of China’s film industry, but also to the enhancement of the country’s cultural soft power and national image. In recent years,Chinese films have achieved excellent results in terms of reputation and economic benefits in both the domestic and overseas markets, but the promotion of Chinese films in the North American market still needs to be studied. Therefore, based on the classic Bass model and the double oligopoly competition model in the field of new product diffusion, this paper develops a new product market diffusion model for film product diffusion under cross-country conditions, taking into account factors such as the competitive market environment, the limitations of cultural communication and consumer buying behaviour, and explores the correctness of the influencing factors such as advertising marketing and word-ofmouth marketing.Secondly, based on the empirical analysis,a system dynamics simulation approach is applied to investigate the dynamic effects and influencing mechanisms of crossmarket film box office diffusion from the influencing factors of word-of-mouth,cultural discount, release time and distributor type.Based on the results of the simulation analysis,it is found that the genre of the film has a greater influence on the box office, and the smaller the cultural discount, the more popular the film is in foreign markets. The timing of the entry of a cross-market film product into the import market also affects the performance of the film in the import market,in that the film performs better in the import market after a shorter period of release in the home market.Based on the findings of the above study, scientific and effective targeted recommendations are made to promote the promotion of cross-market films and enhance the country’s cultural soft power from the perspective of effective influencing factors.
