| Since the beginning of the new century,Indian films have repeatedly gained attention in the international film market,and many realistic themes have changed people’s inherent impression of Indian films.These films present the real problems of Indian society by changing and cutting out large sections of songs and dances.Among them,one of the important issues of Indian realistic films in the new century is the Indian women’s issue,and at the same time,it embodies the strong female consciousness.This has become an important trend that cannot be ignored in the production of Indian films in the new century.By studying the female consciousness in Indian realistic films in the new century,we can better understand the relationship among Indian films,Indian women and Indian society,and then better analyze and understand the development pattern and development trend of world films.This paper discusses how realistic Indian films in the new century reflect on women’s survival dilemma,reshape women’s image and reaffirm women’s rights and values based on the specific Indian women’s experience and stand on women’s standpoint.Summarize the characteristics and rules of female consciousness in film text and director’s intention.This paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter discusses the influence of religion,caste and class factors on women’s status in Indian realistic films in the new century,realizes that women are victims in the patriarchal society,and reveals the living status and problems of women.Many films,starting from family relations,sexual relations and social relations,combined with the local religious culture and secular life of India,depict the survival picture of modern and contemporary Indian women and reproduce the cognitive concepts of women of different classes.The second chapter discusses the attempts of Indian realistic films in the new century to deconstruct the female stereotypes on the screen,construct fresh female images on the basis of reality,dispel the pleasure of men watching TV,and provide a female perspective.In the past,a large number of distorted female images appeared in Indian films,which did not truly reflect the life and experience of women,nor could they reflect the nature of their specific reality.Indian reality-themed films in the new century have subverted the past conventions,and have inherited the high quality creation standards of Hollywood and the realistic tradition of parallel Indian films in the1950 s and 1960 s.Based on reality,they have shaped typical character images adapted from real characters.The third chapter discusses that the female consciousness in the Indian realistic films in the new century is manifested in its reiteration of women’s rights and interests and values,and puts the multiple demands of female consciousness into the value orientation of the text.In addition to reflecting and criticizing the awakening of women’s consciousness,the film highlights women’s demands for equal rights and interests and their desire for independent development,showing a more explicit intention of women’s rights,so as to urge the society to face up to the value of women.From facing up to subverting to reiterating,Indian realistic films in the new century,while penetrating the truth of reality,keep the wonderful story telling,and gently deconstruct the patriarchal discourse that has been running through Indian films for a hundred years.Such creation is rooted in the soil of national growth,adapts to the real national conditions of India,produces positive social effect,and has far-reaching significance for Indian film itself and Indian women. |
