Japanese Chinese novels are literary genres with special era imprints, which developed on the basis of absorbing a large amount of Chinese culture. It was mainly prevalent in the Edo to Meiji periods. On the one hand,Japanese Chinese novels have elements of local Japanese culture, and on the other hand, they are deeply influenced by Chinese Ming and Qing dynasty novels. In the Ming— Qing dynasties,Chinese novel’s commentaries developed into a systematic and theoretical criticism, and gradually became the dominant form of novel criticism. The form of novel texts had also changed, and novel review books have emerged that are both quantitative and qualitative.During this period,Chinese Ming and Qing dynasty novels spread to Japan on a large scale, and novel criticism also took root in Japan, forming a Japanese Chinese novel novel’s commentaries. Most of the commentaries on Japanese Chinese novels are written by Japanese sinologists and Confucianists, who are very familiar with ancient Chinese documents and historical allusions, meanwhile they are also very familiar with Japanese history, culture and national conditions,so these commentaries clearly reflect the fusion of Chinese and Japanese cultures. This paper takes Japanese Chinese novels as the research object, analyzes and sorts out the criticism of Japanese Chinese novels, and examines the presentation of the form of novel criticism in Japan and its acceptance of Chinese literary theory. The thesis is mainly divided into six parts. It mainly sorts out the research on Japanese Chinese novels in the academic circles. The second part summarizes and briefly summarizes the Japanese Chinese novel review books collected by the author, and summarizes the characteristics of Japanese Chinese novel reviews in three aspects, the form of commentary, the identity of the critic and the attention to Chinese classics. The third part discusses the function of commenting on Japanese Chinese novels, mainly including the function of education and education in the context of culture and education, the entertainment function obtained from the fun of language and the pleasure of reading by readers, and the function of disseminating novel texts. The fourth part explores the ideas embodied in the novel’s commentary, including the Japanese Han writers’ views on fiction, women, and the Japanese national bushido ideology contained therein. The fifth part focuses on the absorption of Chinese literary theory by Japanese Chinese novel criticism, which not only absorbs the literary criticism of Jin Shengxi, but also draws on many critical terms of ancient Chinese opera and classical Chinese literature, and re-creates these terms. The fifth part focuses on the absorption of Chinese literary theory by Japanese Chinese novel criticism, which not only absorbs the literary criticism of Jin Shengtan, but also draws on many critical terms of ancient Chinese opera and classical Chinese philology, and re-creates these terms. The sixth part is a comparative analysis of individual cases, mainly analyzing and comparing the novel reviews in China’s "Yu Chu Xinzhi" and "Japanese Yu Chu Xinzhi",respectively from the form and content of the analysis, pointing out that the review styles of the two books have their own characteristics, the comments of "Yu Chu Xinzhi" do not care about literary aesthetics like "Yu Chu Xinzhi",but pay more attention to the function of the novel in exhorting good and punishing evil, and attach importance to the moral edification function of the novel, which is a tool for Confucians to educate the world. In short, the review of Japanese Chinese novels belongs to the organic part of Japanese Chinese novels, and at the same time it is influenced by China’s classical novels and literary theories,is the product of Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges, through the comprehensive study of Japanese Chinese novels,we can more clearly understand the similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese novel concepts, and more clearly understand the spread and influence of Chinese culture.
