| The advancem ent of electrical engineerin g technology has accelerated China’s industry toward the achievement of "Made in China 2055" in the context of economic globalization, and the translation of electrical engineering texts has emerged as a crucial link for Chinese and international electrical engineering exchanges.Currently,it is challenging to satisfy readers’ demands for in-depth understanding of technological advancements because translation research on electrical engineering texts is clearly lagging behind the times’ progress.Consequently, the translation of electrical engineering texts remains as a crucial issue in the modern era.The translator selects the first two chapters of the book Design and Type Selection of Electrical Equipment as the source text for this translation practice, and explores the application of Skopos theory in the C-E translation of electrical engineering texts through case analysis. This report m ainly includes five parts:translation task description, translation process description, overview of Skopos theory, case study, and conclusion. The case study is the main focus of this report, which introduces the problems and solutions encountered by the author at the lexical, syntactic, and discourse levels during translation practice, and proposes specific translation methods. At the lexical level,it mainly involves the tran slation of technological terms,three-character words, and verb-object structures.Under the guidance of the skopos rule and fidelity rule, the author flexibly selects translation methods to ensure the accuracy of vocabulary; At the syntactic level, the author follows the requirements of the three principles of skopos theory and ensures the readability of the target texts by reconstructing and adjusting the word order of non-subject senten ces and long and difficult sentences; At the discourse level, for the issues of cohesion and coherence in texts, methods such as reference, omission, and addition of conjunctions are used to make the writing concise, coherent, and logically rigorous. The translation of electrical engineering texts guided by Skopos theory highlights the accuracy, scientificity, and conciseness of informative texts, which is more in line with the expression habits of English for science and technology.Through this translation practice, the translator hopes that the content and conclusions of this report can provide some useful references and insights for the future translation of electrical engineering texts. |
