Report On The Simulated Interpretation Of “CGTN The Point With Liu Xin:The Development Of China’S Economy In The Context Of Covid-19” Under The Guidance Of Gile’s Effect Model

Nowadays,with the gradual increase of people’s attention to international affairs,TV channel simultaneous interpretation,as a new form of interpretation,can help domestic TV viewers to overcome the language barrier and obtain international information for the first time.TV simultaneous transmission has become a subject worthy of further study.Many Chinese and foreign TV stations provide simultaneous transmission services,and more and more studies on TV simultaneous transmission are conducted in the Chinese interpretation field.In this context,this report selects "The Point with Liu Xin",a one hour TV program of CGTN,a foreign language TV channel sponsored by China,as the corpus for interpreting research based on Gile’s Effort Model.It is explained and analyzed based on Gile’s Effort Model.Through the analysis and summary of the interpreter’s performance,12 typical cases are selected to reflect the problems exposed in the process of practice,and the corresponding solutions are proposed.Based on the analysis of the source text,the author finds that the corpus is highly professional and has a high density of information,which requires the interpreter to allocate more energy.In addition,there are many differences between the simultaneous interpretation and traditional simultaneous interpretation in the special situation of video broadcasting.The context of video broadcasting is more frequent than that of normal circumstances,and unexpected situations are more likely to occur,requiring appropriate measures to deal with them.To this end,the selected cases are classified according to the length of the listening-to-interpretation time difference,namely,zero time difference,normal time difference,and long time difference,and two special cases,namely,negative time difference and omitting interpretation,are included in the analysis.The author finds that to achieve zero time difference(or short time difference)between listening and interpretation,interpreters can use the method of direct translation of professional terms and immediately cut off the current output when the picture changes and focus on the new topic.To avoid long listening-to-interpretation time differences caused by complex structures and keywords stuck,interpreters can use the method of getting rid of the redundant baggage and giving the main information.At the same time,combined with rich background knowledge and reasonable prediction,interpreters can also achieve the negative time difference between listening and interpretation at some time.This report have shown that Gile’s Effort Model Theory is proved to be useful to find proper strategies to cope with the problems which are caused by attention distribution and improve the quality of simultaneous interpretation.
