The translation was sponsored by Pactera Technology International Ltd.,the translator translated chapter 1 to chapter 86 of an online literature named After the Peaceful Divorce written by Nan Huang from Tomato Fiction and the translation project lasted for two months. The translator has selected some typical cases to complete this translation practice report based on the difficulties encountered in the translation process: firstly, the translator has to search for evidence for the translation of a large number of culture-loaded words appearing in the novel;secondly, the translator must follow the requirements of translation localization in the translation styleguide. The novel After the Peaceful Divorce falls into the category of online novels,in which most of them are descriptions of ancient Chinese traditional culture, and there are many culture-loaded words in them.In this report, the translation of the text is carried out from the perspective of evidence retrieval, with the help of information retrieval tools and information retrieval methods,in order to explore the specific application of online information technology to the translation of culture-loaded words in translation report. The translator focuses on the application of various information retrieval methods and the corresponding translation strategies in the process of translating texts of online literature. The commonly used search tools in this translation practice include search engine search, literature database search and online dictionary search;the commonly used search methods include information retrieval based on different strategies, such as elicitation method, parallel text search method and multiple search method.Based on the search results, the analysis and summary were conducted with translation cases. In the process of evidence-based search, the translator also makes corresponding selection for the usage and authenticity of the translated text in the target language countries, and takes into account the preservation of cultural imagery when translating culture-loaded words, the core principle of which is to link and communicate the source language and the target language organically to achieve mutual understanding. The translator uses translation strategies such as paraphrasing,in-text interpretation, translation with notes, naturalization and deletion to minimize cultural barriers to improve the readability of the novel and enable readers in the target language to better understand the meaning of the source language. The translator finds that by using a combination of online information retrieval techniques and culture-loaded word translation strategies can make the translation more accurate, brief, and in line with the reading habits of the target language readers. At the same time, the translator hopes that this report can provide a reference for the translation of Chinese online novels at both theoretical and practical levels, and improve the quality of online literature translation.
