| In recent years,the central government has placed a high value on the overall development of students,launched the educational concept of “Ideological and Political Education”,issued relevant documents,and emphasized that all kinds of courses should fully realize the function of nurturing people and create synergistic effects.The education role of the English reading curriculum is further represented with the ongoing reform of English teaching.The effective integration of “Ideological and Political Education” with the English reading curriculum has become an inevitable choice for the current educational reform,which plays an important role in promoting students’ overall development,improving their comprehensive quality,and enhancing the quality of education.Nantong has proposed the reform of “Lixue Classroom” in the context of national policy,and schools at all levels have insisted on implementing the reform requirements and promoting the construction of efficient education classrooms.However,there is still a certain gap between the actual practice effect and the ideal requirement.The concept of “Ideological and Political Education” is established as a curriculum concept in this study.Based on Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives and Wen’s output-oriented method,this study takes the current situation of“Ideological and Political Education” integrated into junior high school English reading curriculum as the entry point,summarizes and analyzes the specific measures tried by Nantong J Middle School for integrating “Ideological and Political Education”into junior high school English reading teaching under the background of Nantong“Lixue Classroom” reform by using the methods of questionnaire survey,semi-structured interview,and observation.Additionally,the study identifies implementation problems and dilemmas,investigates a new path of integrating“Ideological and Political Education” into junior high school English reading teaching to develop new ideas for the study of junior high school English reading teaching,and to better achieve the fundamental educational goal of "moral cultivation".The results of the study reveal that the current practice of integrating“Ideological and Political Education” into junior high school English reading teaching at Nantong J Middle School is not ideal.The main problems are as follows,the lack of teachers’ initiative cognition,the dilemma of teachers’ specific classroom practice,the incomplete school management system and security,and the educational environment to be improved.The research shows that the reasons affecting the effectiveness of integrating “Ideological and Political Education” into junior high school English reading teaching are mainly at three levels: teachers,schools,and local education departments.To further strengthen the integration of “Ideological and Political Education” into junior high school English reading teaching,teachers should(i)enhance their awareness of “Ideological and Political Education” and be a model of virtue for others,(ii)optimize English reading teaching design and improve efficiency,and(iii)innovate English reading teaching content and reflect diligently.At the school level,managers should(i)advance with the times and improve the institutional guarantee,and(ii)deepen cooperation and innovate school-based teaching materials.For local education management departments,they should(i)improve the documents and policies and strengthen guidance,(ii)coordinate the planning of curriculum construction and integrate resources,and(iii)create an appropriate environment to stimulate practical teaching. |
