This thesis is based on many problems caused by the aging population.Entering the era of Internet problems,such as: high degree of media liberalization,marketization of media,decentralization of media,uneven quality of media and authenticity of media content cannot be guaranteed appear,Through the analysis of visual cognitive characteristics and visual physiological characteristics of aging audiences,using the theory of visual perception and semiotics as a guide.Combing theories of science,sociology,aesthetics,and design to carry out cross-study research.Explore the design and application of age-appropriate visual symbols in digital media and traditional media in the fusion media era deeply,as well as the development of visual symbols in the future.This thesis uses literature method,interview method,case method and other methods to deeply investigate the "seeing" problem of aging audiences in the interaction between traditional media and digital media analyzing the source of the audience’s visual cognition problem in the interaction between digital media and traditional media.On this basis,with the help of visual perception theory and the theoretical achievements of the existing researches on visual design suitable for aging,the visual design to improve the experience of aging audiences is practically created in digital media and traditional media respectively.In order to achieve a utopia suitable for aging audiences in both digital and traditional media,so that more aging audiences can interact with media that they can see clearly,use,comfortably,and feel the warm from society.Experience the joy of technology.In the development of Chinese aging problem,it can provide an idea,which can make contribution to deal with aging population.This research is divided into five chapters,with the route of problem finding and problem solving.First of all,in the first chapter,the problem of aging,especially the current situation of aging in my country,is analyzed.The current domestic and foreign scholars’ research on visual perception and aging is sorted out.An overall understanding of current research on visual perception and ageing is clear.Then,the purpose of this study,the significance of the study,the method of the study and the innovation of the study are further elaborated.Next,the second chapter is to elaborate on the definitions of visual perception,age-appropriateness,and visual symbols.The third chapter,under the guidance of visual perception theory,this research analyzes the media of aging,and expounds the theory of aging in traditional media,namely static visual symbols and digital media,namely dynamic visual symbols.Taking the ageing audience’s information recognition barriers to media as the starting point of this research,we explore and discover the reasons for the problems in digital media and traditional media.The fourth chapter,guided by the theory of visual perception,analyzes the constituent elements of visual symbol design.Clarify the composition of the elements of the visual symbol design suitable for aging,and further elaborate the theory of each element of the visual symbol design,and discuss the design basis of the components of the visual symbol for aging under the guidance of the theory of visual perception,so as to form a visual symbol suitable for aging.A theoretical guide to symbol design.According to the visual cognitive characteristics of size,color,form,shape,space,tension and other related theories in the visual perception theory,it aims at the interpretation and analysis of the age-appropriate problem in the era of media fusion.This thesis analyzes and expounds the design basis of age-appropriate visual symbols,and then flexibly uses the theory of visual perception to guide the further design of age-appropriate visual symbols.Chapter 5,following the information acquisition habits and visual needs of aging audiences,based on the research and design analysis in Chapters 3 and 4.Carry out the design practice of visual symbols suitable for the elderly in two major aspects: in traditional media include poster design and book design,in digital media include mobile Internet software interface and the graphic design of the internet website.The increasingly severe situation of aging population illustrates the great significance of the age-appropriate visual symbol design,which not only meets the needs of the elderly,but also has a positive effect on the progress of the whole society.Standing in the new era and facing the new situation,it is hoped that the results of this research can make a great difference to the problem of aging,and contribute to the design and application of age-appropriate visual symbols.
