Research On Blue And White Porcelain Lotus Pattern And Its Inheritance And Exploration In Contemporary Design

The lotus pattern,one of the auspicious motifs,has endured throughout history and is a popular subject even today.The lotus flower pattern has a very high status as a special auspicious pattern,and the initial prevalence of the lotus flower pattern on blue and white porcelain cannot be separated from the baptism of Buddhism,which relies on the reverence of Buddhism for the lotus flower,but,over time,the lotus flower pattern in blue and white porcelain began to be separated from the Buddhist connotation,and became a folk symbol for the high and pure character and the connotation of "harmony".It became a vehicle for folk to express their good wishes and the pursuit of a happy life.The craft of blue-and-white porcelain took shape from the Tang Dynasty and matured during the Yuan Dynasty and flourished during the Qing Dynasty.The layout,decoration,and painting style of the lotus pattern on blue-and-white porcelain in each period have their own characteristics,which are closely related to the porcelain-making technology,cultural environment,economy,and politics of the time.This paper analyzes the decorative layout and pattern characteristics of the lotus pattern in blue and white porcelain by dynasties using the methods of data research,symbolic analysis and comparison,double evidence,and argumentative examples,and searches for a large number of pictures to confirm the composition characteristics and period features of the lotus pattern,and compares traditional blue and white porcelain with contemporary blue and white porcelain to explore the new style of contemporary blue and white porcelain.The lotus pattern is still popular in contemporary blue-and-white porcelain because of its unique connotation and decorative features,and understanding the evolution of the lotus pattern in traditional blue-and-white porcelain can also help to analyze the characteristics of the lotus pattern in contemporary blue-and-white porcelain.This paper will also use the fieldwork method to explore and analyze the unique artistic techniques of contemporary blue and white porcelain,and then complete the design practice according to the above analysis and contemporary artistic aesthetics.
