| Jameson is one of the most influential western Marxist theorists,who has made outstanding contributions to the development of Western Marxism and plays a pivotal role in the field of cultural criticism.He has written a considerable number of articles on film criticism,and these articles are mainly collected in two works,namely 《Signatures of Visible》and《The Geopolitical Aesthetic:Cinema and Space in the World System》.On the basis of comprehensive collation and analysis of Jameson’s film criticism,this paper tries to explore Jameson’s attitude towards the art style of film,and summarizes the strategy of film criticism from his practice of film criticism,and attempts to make a holistic observation and appropriate evaluation of Jameson’s film criticism.The first part introduces the theoretical origin of Jameson’s film criticism.Tracing back to the source of Jameson’s film criticism,the most important one is Jameson’s own theory.Jameson’s theoretical system is the theoretical foundation of his film criticism.Of course,the theoretical origin of Jameson’s film criticism extends far beyond Jameson himself.Besides,Jameson is also influenced by other theorists,and many theories can be regarded as the theoretical origin of his film criticism.Benjamin’s film theory and Sartre’s "intervention theory" can be said to have a direct influence on Jameson’s film criticism.The second part will introduce Jameson’s basic view of film,that is,how Jameson views the culture of film.This chapter mainly analyzes Jameson’s attitude and concept towards film.From the theoretical characteristics of Jameson,it can be found that Jameson’s theoretical system is mainly built around two key words,one is Marxism,the other is postmodernism.From the perspective of "late capitalist cultural logic" proposed by Jameson,he regards visual culture as an important feature of the transformation from modernism to postmodernism,and film is regarded as a special artistic style of visual culture.Secondly,Jameson examines the position of film in postmodern culture from the perspective of Marxist hermeneutics,that is,compared with the elite culture of mass culture and the creative culture industry.In this perspective,film is regarded as a special cultural phenomenon,which has its own characteristics compared with other cultural categories.The third part will explore the criticism strategy from Jameson’s film criticism.Jameson’s film criticism is closely related to his theory.Looking through the articles of his film criticism,we can find that Jameson’s film criticism has formed a special style and a certain stability of the criticism strategy.Jameson’s film criticism strategy was born from Jameson’s Marxist hermeneutics,but because of the particularity of the film culture itself and the particularity of the film criticism style,it presents different forms of criticism,including the allegory-oriented criticism method,the critical consciousness that attaches importance to space,and the dialectical combination of ideology and utopia.The fourth part is based on Jameson’s practice of film criticism,starting from Jameson’s commonly used "literary criticism",and summarizes how "literary criticism" plays a role in Jameson’s film criticism.Firstly,it analyzes related concepts from the basic connotation,including "genre","genre criticism" and "genre consciousness" in Jameson’s theory,to solve the problem of what the relevant keywords are.Then it analyzes how Jameson applies "genre criticism" to the practice of film criticism,and finds that he divides post-modern films into several special categories.That is,nostalgia movies,third world movies,etc.How does Jameson achieve the purpose of film criticism by dividing the filmsFinally,on the basis of the above,the author makes an objective evaluation of Jameson’s film criticism and rationally sums up the influence of his film criticism theory... |
