| Rituals are Central to the development of human civilization,the Outward expression of religious beliefs,a medium for communicating between man and God,and an important means of consolidating and strengthening religious beliefs.In their attempts to understand nature and themselves,human beings have developed various fantasies about thing they cannot explain,phenomena and various supernatural forces such as spirits,ghosts and spirits.and have created various forms of communication in order to live in harmony with these spirits and ghosts.The "glud" ceremony studied in this paper,as one of The Tibetan religious rituals,is away for human beings to communicate with these spirits and ghosts,and is full of the unique patterns and logic of Tibetan culture,which has gradually developed over thousands of years of historical and cultural development.Based on the background of Tibetan folk religion and rituals,this paper aims to investigate the symbols and functions of the "glud" ritual,this paper aims to investigate the symbols and functions of the "glud" ritual,using relevant anthropological theories.It begins with an introduction to the origin and conceptual definition of the "glud" ritual,and further develops the study of its history and belief system,including the classification of the ritual and the process of the whole ritual,as well as the categorisation and analysis of the symbolic culture of the ritual.Throughout the rituals,it is found that all the symbols and functions of the Tibetan rituals revolve almost exclusively around the sending away of a substitute "glud" in order to ward off evil spirits and bring down good fortune.The rituals of the Tibetan "glud" are almost exclusively centred around the sending away of a double to ward off evil spirits and to solve basic human needs and problems.This paper concludes from an analysis of the rituals and beliefs of the "glud" : firstly,from the present-day "glud",it is understood that the rituals are a common cultural memory of Tibetans that has been passed on and preserved.Secondly,the literal meaning of the ritual is one of salvation and replacement,which is in fact achieved through the sending of a substitute "glud" during the ritual.Thirdly,the symbolic and functional aspects of the "glud" ritual are inextricably linked,and the richness of the symbolic culture forms the functional complex of the ritual culture.From the perspective of cultural holism,the "glud" ritual as a whole is found to function mainly through the combination of the chanting of scripture incantations and the exorcism ritual of sending a substitute "glud" to achieve the purpose of salvation and replacement of the physical and mental well-being of the ritual object and the exorcism of evil spirits.It is also one of the most significant functions of religious rituals to strengthen and reinforce religious beliefs.In this paper,based on a documentary study of the Tibetan cultural phenomenon of "glud",we have used anthropological,ethnological and religious methods to conduct a more comprehensive study of the origin,social function and cultural phenomenon of "glud" rituals,and have put forward our own views.The rituals of the "glud" are discussed and researched in a more comprehensive manner using anthropological and religious methods. |
