As a critic,literary editor,film scriptwriter,writer,etc.,Li Tuo has been active in the literary circles and the forefront of literary practice for over forty years.His identity has always shifted among a literary critic,a writer and so on.As a literary critic,Li Tuo’s practice of literary criticism has undergone great changes in terms of discourse form,ideological stance,etc.The history of his literary criticism practice also contains the development and changes of contemporary literature for more than forty years,which has certain exemplary significance.In this study,with the help of Li Tuo’s literary criticism works such as Where Does the Avalanche Occur,it aims to investigate the changes of Li Tuo’s literary criticism practice in terms of ideological stance and discourse form,so as to sort out the changes of literary conceptions with the flow of the literary field,explore the relationship between literary criticism and literary creation,and capture the pluralistic forms presented by contemporary academic history.This study is divided into two parts,including the introduction part and the body part.In the introduction part,two questions are clarified,namely,the first is the current status of domestic scholars’ research on Li Tuo’s literary criticism and the second are the significance of the selected topic,research methods and research characteristics.And in the body part,Li Tuo’s literary criticism is discussed,which includes three parts in total.In the first part,the turn of Leto’s literary criticism practice is mainly discussed.During his forty-year-long academic career,Li Tuo’s literary criticism practice has been in constant movement,change and development along with the change of literary trends and the turn of his own literary thought.His literary criticism career can be divided into three stages.The first stage is the initial form changing from literary creation to literary criticism in the 1980 s.He tried to rebuild the local "modernity" discourse by sifting,transforming and deforming the discourse of others.With the aim of breaking the old framework of literary criticism and promoting the change of the critical discourse of "modernity" through formal innovation,he adopted a strategy of treating literary criticism as an intellectual game,reflecting the posture of an enlightener.The second stage is the recovery of the political dimension of literature in the 1990 s,when Li Tuo reflected on "pure literature".On the one hand,Li Tuo kept reflecting and examining himself,insisting on the spirit of doubt and criticism,and calling for the return of the rationality of literary criticism.On the other hand,Li Tuo turned his attention to power and intellectuals themselves,challenging "pure literature",exposing the collusion between literature and commercialization,and pointing to the political dimension of literature.The third stage is that since the new century,Li Tuo has advocated the return of literary criticism to "realism" so as to rebuild the connection between literature and reality.In the second part,the influence of Li Tuo’s multiple identities on his literary criticism practice is mainly discussed,including the influence of Li Tuo’s literary identities as a writer,literary editor,film scriptwriter and film critic on his literary criticism practice.First,Li Tuo continued the habit of literary creation,and his criticism practice achieved a fusion of interpolated discourse and methodological awareness.Second,as a literary editor,on the one hand,Li Tuo spared no effort to discover newcomers by Beijing Literature and dynamically tracked them through his literary criticism practice.On the other hand,Li Tuo also participated in the compilation of some fiction anthologies,reflecting his pioneering consciousness of seeking new and different ideas in the 1980 s.Third,as a film scriptwriter and film critic,Li Tuo provided rich theoretical interpretation resources for film criticism by literary criticism practice,while the image rules and lens language he came into contact with through his film criticism practice also deeply influenced the formal elements of literary criticism practice,constituting a cycle of meaning between them.In the third part,the characteristics of Li Tuo’s literary criticism practice are mainly discussed.First,Li Tuo’s literary criticism practice presents a thinking intention that combines reductive thinking with systematic thinking.He keenly captures the implicit and subtle changes of the text and accurately interprets them with known concepts.At the same time,Li Tuo always insists on grasping the objects of criticism as a whole,so that his literary criticism often reveals a grand atmosphere.Secondly,Li Tuo’s literary criticism practice presents the downward shift of the elite perspective of literary criticism and the literary criticism stance of facing popular culture.Third,Li Tuo’s literary criticism practice presents a distinct color of ethnic minorities.He examines and investigates the wandering and struggles of ethnic minority groups in the context of modernity with a sense of "presentness",and extends it to the context of world literature.Li Tuo pays close and sincere attention to the contemporary social reality of China,and his criticism history contains the trajectory of the changes in Chinese literature and art over the past forty years,as well as his unique understanding of literary and artistic trends in different periods.
