Based on a conscious and sober aesthetic grasp of realistic dilemmas,Director Han Yan incorporated the tragic consciousness of modernism into his film narrative.His films containing tragic consciousness brought aesthetic pain and beauty to the audience,and gave the audience the power of resistance and transcendence at the spiritual level,forming a unique cultural value and era implication.This article summarizes and sorts out the works of director Han Yan,and based on theories such as tragedy theory,semiotics theory,psychoanalysis theory,and film narratology,explores the tragic consciousness in director Han Yan’s film narrative,and explores the creative philosophy and artistic rules of tragic consciousness in his films.Firstly,in the construction of the narrative space of tragedy,the director Han Yan reveals the universal survival dilemma of human beings by expressing the material space in which the characters are located,and externalizes their spiritual consciousness space to reveal the inevitable tragic fate of human beings;Secondly,in the use of movie symbols,Han Yan forms multidimensional tragic metaphors,creates a tragic atmosphere,and hints at the tragic consciousness generated by the characters when they encounter misfortune through the use of visual symbols such as marvelous diffuse effects,hand-held photography,and fast zoom lenses in his works,as well as the auditory symbols of characters’ lines,guitar theme music,and the use of props,as well as the tragic observation of the title;Then,in the narrative structure,director Han Yan uses causal linear structure,looped and layered structure,and intertwined and contrasted structure to convey the survival pressure,wandering,and loneliness of marginalized groups,and vividly displays the tragic consciousness generated by the characters in their suffering through multiple perspectives;Finally,from the perspective of tragic themes,under the joint efforts of film and television psychology and tragic aesthetics,Director Han Yan focuses on the survival anxiety of marginalized people in the real society and their id choice to live from death with unique humanistic care.The characters in the play actively express the director’s tragic consciousness through the help of others and self awareness determination.
