China and Pakistan have always been friendly, and Pakistani students are an important part of the Chinese student community. However, there are significant differences in the environment and culture between the two countries, and many Pakistani students face many cross-cultural adaptation issues while studying in China. There are many Pakistani international students in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, who are excellent samples for studying cross-cultural adaptation. The author investigated the cross-cultural adaptation of Pakistani international students in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region through questionnaires and interviews.Based on the results of the survey, the author analyzed the cross-cultural communication problems and their causes, and proposed some suggestions for better completing cross-cultural adaptation. The main research contents of this article are as follows:The first chapter selects Pakistani international students from various universities in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region as the survey subjects, and designs a questionnaire from aspects such as diet, life, learning, society, and culture.A total of 67 valid responses were received. The survey results show that many international students are experiencing problems such as meeting halal dietary requirements, adapting to strict school and social management measures, excessive pressure on exams and homework, and social barriers with Chinese people. In Chapter 2,in order to remedy the possible limitations of the research content in the questionnaire, the author also conducted interviews with three Pakistani international students from the Beijing,Tianjin, and Hebei regions to gain a deeper understanding of their cross-cultural adaptation. The interviews also found various cross-cultural adaptation issues reflected in the questionnaire, and also found that different students had their own responses to this.Based on the analysis of the questionnaire and interview results, the author finds that there are many problems and reasons for the cross-cultural adaptation of Pakistani students in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. These include: learning and living barriers caused by insufficient Chinese proficiency, early difficult adaptation processes caused by differences in dietary habits, misunderstandings and estrangements caused by cultural differences, and adaptation of the social atmosphere. Finally, based on the survey results, the author proposes targeted suggestions for Pakistani students studying in China to successfully complete cross-cultural adaptation, such as investing more time and energy in improving their Chinese language proficiency, actively communicating with teachers, classmates, and Chinese people around them, seeking help, making good learning plans, and maintaining an open mind. |
