This thesis discusses the cultural maladjustment of Chinese teachers in non-verbal communication during their Chinese teaching process in Thailand from cross-culture perspective. In the backgrounds of cross culture communication, the author relates to the manifestation forms of cultural differences she has noticed, and respectively narrates them as non-verbal communication behaviors. Next, the thesis connects with practical cases and makes further analysis of the underlying factors causing cultural differences, namely, the history and tradition of the nation, political system, values and concepts, religious beliefs and manners and customs. After that, the author brings up relevant suggestions and strategies concerning various forms of the cultural maladjustment. According to this part, Chinese teachers in Thailand should first learn local culture, respect local religions and values. Second, they should take corresponding measures and adjust the teaching methods. They should also compile proper textbooks and make relevant evaluation objectives. Finally, they should change the traditional classroom management modes to adapt to Thailand teaching system. The former two are summed up from the author’s teaching experience, and the latter two are the suggestions and thoughts given from the perspectives of teaching materials, teachers and students, etc. The above is to help teachers and students get culturally prepared for the class Chinese as a foreign language in advance. Students should learn Chinese and Chinese culture with an inclusive mind for other cultures, which can make the teaching go smoothly, improve teaching efficiency and reduce the cultural maladjustment due to cultural differences.Chinese teachers should take a tolerant attitude towards learners of Chinese language. At the same of being tolerant to students’behaviors, they should learn to think in other people’s shoes and try to integrate with students. In teaching Chinese as a good foreign language, students should be considered as the center. Learners and professors should make cultural adjustments, get along harmoniously to create alearning atmosphere and try to eliminate the influence caused by cultural difference, which can promote Chinese teaching to go smoothly, improve learning efficiency, and increase the learning interest to realize effective Chinese teaching.
