Relying on the developed economy and profound historical and cultural traditions,Jiangnan writers stand out from the "Southern Writing" group and create a colorful regional imagination. As one of the representatives,Su Tong has built a highly personal literary geographical space-"Jiangnan" with his unique creative content and stylistic style. The geographical term "Jiangnan" fully reflects the characteristics of literary geography in Su Tong’s novels, including explicit elements such as landscapes and characters, and invisible elements such as emotions and thoughts.By constructing a "Jiangnan" space centered on the two geographical coordinates of "Toon Tree Street" and "Maple Poplar Township",Su Tong conveys his personal experience and writing spirit, thus completing the spiritual exploration of life.According to the relevant characteristics of the real Jiangnan and the literary "Jiangnan",Su Tong constructs an aesthetic space with the important expression of river writing.By analyzing the concrete presentation, narrative connotation and narrative technique of the geographical space of "Jiangnan" in Su Tong’s novels and the logical construction of the value system, this paper uses geographical image analysis and spatial analysis to explore how river writing participates in the construction of the geographical space of "Jiangnan",so as to form a clear and reliable research idea on the river writing of Su Tong’s novel. As a geographical space of literary fiction,"Jiangnan" is an aesthetic world created by Su Tong combining reality and psychological experience, collective unconsciousness and personal expression.Su Tong uses "river" and related imagery in his creations to shape characters closely related to "river" and use "water" art forms, and finally completes the transmission of the spiritual core of the "Jiangnan" region.River writing specifically participates in the construction of the grand rural space of "Jiangnan" through the image of "river" and related image groups, and the novel takes"river" as the center, distinguishing the urban space represented by "Toon Tree Street" and the rural space represented by "Maple Poplar Township",while promoting the communication between the two.In Jiangnan writing,"river" has an important impact on the image shaping of characters,in the novel women complete self-transformation and redemption in the "river",and "river" witnesses the desire and growth confusion of youth.Su Tong used a variety of expressions when constructing the "Jiangnan" in literary works.Influenced by the "water-based" culture of Jiangnan, the author adheres to the folk stance of secularization of daily life and marginalization of characters, adheres to the beautiful language tradition of Jiangnan, and passionately fictionalizes real memories from a free narrative perspective. It can be seen from the above that Su Tong’s river writing participates in the construction of geographical space from the aspects of space, characters, and aesthetic expression, and the "Jiangnan" with the participation of river writing has a unique spiritual pursuit. The fluidity of the river makes the river writing in a "floating" state, and also brings about the life form of the characters in the novel that continue to escape, the ultimate escape result is the end of life, and the cycle of the river heralds the beginning of a new life, and the meaning of life to death is displayed in this endless flow process, thus interpreting that drifting is the norm in the "Jiangnan" world; And the "river",as a flowing spiritual home,is not only the psychological belonging place of the author, but also the emotional cohesion of the nation.
