With the advent of various intelligent devices and technologies into people’s lives, video games have become one of the main forms of entertainment and socialization in modern society.Numerous research in the field of cognitive neuroscience have shown that frequent use of video games can affect brain plasticity. There are many types of video games, but existing research mainly focuses on the functional brain mechanisms of action-type video games, with less attention paid to other types of video games. Therefore, this thesis designs an experiment to explore the impact of different types of video game training on brain plasticity, providing a partial reference for future use of video games to train and improve specific brain functions. This study selected two different types of video games(FPS and Legends of the Three Kingdoms)as the research objects to investigate the impact of video game training on visual tracking ability. The study recruited 95 healthy subjects from a university and randomly divided them into two groups, allowing them to receive training in two different video games for a period of six months.Brain electroencephalography(EEG)and behavioral data from visual tracking tasks were collected from all subjects at the pre-,mid-,and post-training stages. An analysis of the behavioral data results for the visual tracking task before, during, and after training revealed a significant improvement in the accuracy and reaction time of both groups with an increase in the duration of game training. In this study, power spectrum analysis was used to analyze the resting-state EEG data before, during, and after training, respectively. The power spectrum density of different game training groups was calculated in various frequency bands, and intra-group and inter-group differences were compared. The study found that, before training, there were significant differences in the Alpha and Beta frequency bands between the FPS group and Legends of the Three Kingdoms group, mainly in the left temporal and parietal brain regions. After training, the differences in the corresponding brain regions of the Alpha and Beta frequency bands between the FPS group and Legends of the Three Kingdoms group became more significant than before training, which may indicate that long-term FPS game training has indeed played a good role in improving attention ability of the brain after excluding inherent differences. In addition, this article further studied the differences in brain network topology within and between different video game training groups before and after training from the perspective of graph theory. Before training, there was no significant difference in the brain network of the FPS group and Legends of the Three Kingdoms group in various frequency bands. After training, the brain networks of the FPS group and Legends of the Three Kingdoms group showed significant differences in multiple frequency bands(Delta,Theta,Alpha,Beta, and full frequency band). These differences may indicate that longterm video game training can indeed change the functional connections of the subjects’ brains and improve their corresponding cognitive abilities. In general, through the analysis of the resting-state EEG data and behavioral data of the visual tracking task of subjects before and after video game training,FPS game training has a more significant effect on improving visual tracking ability, while Three Kingdoms Kill game training has a more pronounced effect on enhancing brain strategy ability. This article objectively demonstrates that different types of video game training can indeed affect the corresponding cognitive functions of the brain.
