| With the expansion of human production activities, the global climate is changing rapidly, which has caused a vicious domino effect of ecological problems, such as global warming, drought and flood disasters, biodiversity reduction, etc. Therefore, ecological problems have also become an important issue in the international community.Considering the significance of forest ecosystem in the global ecology, the Managing Forest Ecosystems: The Challenge of Climate Change from Springer Forest Ecosystem Management Series was selected as the source text.As a book, whether it can make readers want to read or not,its opening chapter plays an important role. The opening chapter will not only give readers their first glimpse into the main contents of the book, but also lay the groundwork for the detailed development of the following chapters of the book, thus attracting readers’ interest. Therefore, the author chooses the first and second chapters of the book as the source text of translation practice. The first chapter is the introduction, focusing on the relationship between forest management and climate change,it introduces the global policy initiatives and forest management activities. The second chapter mainly analyse the complex impacts of climate change and the corresponding responses of ecosystem. This translation practice is based on the "Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation" framework proposed by Li Changshuan. With the help of relevant translation theories, the author analyzes the typical cases encountered in the process of translation in order to sum up some feasible strategies for Scientific and Technological Translation.First of all, from the perspective of comprehension, the author explores the key points and difficulties in understanding scientific texts from three aspects: terminology, context clues and semantic analysis.Secondly, from the perspective of expression, the author puts forward some suggestions on Euro-Chinese and textual coherence. Finally, from the perspective of flexibility, the author shows how to improve the readability of the text and readers’ acceptance by adjusting sentence structure, amplification and omission. |
